The thing is, it’s damn handy to know these things and at least gain an appreciation for them, because lets face it, we all like to share our POV’s and if its simply a matter of getting connected in a place or 2 and as result, getting a whole bunch more readers then that’s gotta be a good thing.

Those bloggers who’d rather not delve into the nitty gritty of the mechanics behind it all, can still reap the dividends of the high level messages – and checkout the technorati’s stumpleupons, reddits, mybloglogs, bumpzee’s etc.

All that said, I’m fairly techy and I too do sometimes sit there myself and say WTF is all this about then!

Yes – I hear you on the link front to doshdosh and whatnot – I was feeling a little lazy and rushed this morning, hence the lack of expoundment.
